Recently we have been progressing the DMX remote lighting string project, we have a custom PCB to hold both the DMX slave and low-cost DC-DC, with quick-release connectors at either end. It is an interesting project, the supply wiring needed to be lightweight but still carry 100 Watts so we pushed the supply voltage to 40V, thus lowering the ohmic losses and Voltage Drop, which would occur due to larger currents being passed by smaller gauge wire.
The local DC-DC drops this supply to 12V for the 4-Channel DMX controller. The DMX board receives the datastream and then controls 4 output mosfet up to 2A each for RED, GREEN, BLUE, and WHITE LED channels. It’s a neat solution and there will hopefully be a demo run of the full rig in the spring maybe!
