2024 Le Mans 24H Le Mans Cup race kicks off on 15th of June
I have spent way too many races in that paddock and sat on the pit wall, if all is going well on track you’re still battling the lack of sleep at 4am.
All of the crews will already have had a grueling week, working late almost every night. Starting race day at 7am – you can’t expect any good rest for the next 36 hours. It is a serious endurance race for the crew not just the drivers!
A shout out to the bodywork boys, it’s all the bright lights in the pit lane, but out the back of the paddock, there is the tented army of guys and girls, grinding and bonding battered bodywork into a race-able state all through the race. You never know when that shattered bumper (not unknown to be damaged in the formation lap!) is going to be the best you have got and it’s getting sent back out into battle.
Best of luck to all the crews but some picks for the Brits.
Hypercar: The crew at JOTA and the Porsche 963, are a great team and look seriously professional with the full Hypercar garage setup.
LMP2: Vector Sport and United Autosports, plenty of guys in these crews I have worked with over the years, keep pushing guys!… Place your bets, will an Oreca chassis come first, last, or all of the above?
LMGT3: Inception Racing running the McLaren 720, don’t let those drivers batter their steering wheels! And TF Sport; If some of the same crew are still there…standby I’m on my way down for a cuppa!
